2 Abu bandits surrenderer

TWO members of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) surrendered to government forces and turned over their firearms the other day in Sulu.

The bandits were identified as Adamin Salem Nanong, 25 and Alkaisa Salem Nanong, 21, both residents of Barangay Pasil, Indanan, Sulu and members of ASG led by ASG sub leader Majan Sahidjuan, alias Apo Mike.

They surrendered to Lt.Col Amadeo Cruz, commanding officer of 35th Infantry Battalion in Sulu on January 17, 2020 at the unit’s headquarters in Barangay Liang, Patikul, Sulu.

The bandits also handed over one US Garand rifle, one Cal. 45 pistol, and one Colt M1911 US with one mag and one ammunition to the troops.

According to Major Gen. Corleto Vinluan, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, both surrenderers participated in an encounter in Barangay Kuppong, Indanan, Sulu in 2017.

“I commend the troops of the Joint Task Force Sulu for their laudable accomplishments during the first few days of 2020,” Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command said.
