TWO members of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) including a sub-leader were killed while two soldiers were wounded in an encounter Sunday afternoon in Sulu.

This was confirmed by Armed Forces of the Philippines - Western Mindanao Command (AFP-Westmincom) spokesman Major Arvin Encinas.

Encinas identified the slain terrorists as ASG sub-leader Taullah Sbdurasa alias Amah Ollah and Baby Ollah, both included in the watchlist.

Recovered from their possession were two high powered firearms.

Two wounded soldiers were taken to the military hospital for treatment.

Encinas said the encounter occurred at around 1 p.m. in Sulu.

Initial investigation showed that elements of 15th South Ranger Company engaged in a gunfight with the combined group of Abu Sayyaf leader Radullan Sahiron and sub-leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan in the said area.

The intense firefight resulted in the killing of two terrorists and wounding of two soldiers.

AFP-Westmincom Commander Lt.Gen.Cirilito Sobejana said the military will continue to conduct pursuit and deliberate offensives against the terrorists.

“Pursuit and deliberate offensives continue to pressure and pound down Abu Sayyaf fighters, constricting their movement and preempting terror ploys in the ZamBaSulTa area,” Sobejana said.

“We build up combat and intelligence operations to debilitate the militants in Sulu,” he added.
