TWO barangay officials-turned ‘high-value drug targets’ in Caraga region were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in separate anti-narcotics operations on Wednesday, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino reported yesterday.
The official identified the two suspects as Edwin Chua Mangadlao, a ‘kagawad’ of Bgy. Poblacion in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur and Jesse Pidoy del Valle, also a ‘kagawad’ of Bgy. Masao in Butuan City in Agusan del Norte.
Aquino said that members of the PDEA Regional Office 13 and the local police arrested Mangadlao following a raid in his house at 1 a.m. Wednesday which led in the recovery of 11 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some P24,000 worth of shabu and several drug paraphernalia.
On the other hand, Valle was arrested by PDEA operatives who searched his house at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday. The raid resulted in the confiscation of three plastic sachets containing around two grams of dried marijuana leaves and a weighing scale.
