TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — Two suspected shoplifters were nabbed inside a convenience store after also being caught in possession of illegal drugs while another man was arrested for illegal selling of fake cigarettes in twin police operations conducted on Friday here.
Police town head Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito said her men got a phone call from Jeffrey Dela Cruz, sales officer of a 7/11outlet in Bgy. Marcos, requesting assistance about a shoplifting incident that occurred at 9:30 p.m. involving two suspects identified as Ramlee Santiago, 28, dishwasher, and Melita Laron, 40, waitress, both of Block 334 Lot 3, Wattle St., Makati City.
The two were caught stealing six pieces of 75-ml body sprays of various brands by Bench and Penshoppe with these items recovered in their possession.
However, during a subsequent routine body search, the duo also yielded eight plastic sachets containing shabu.
Meanwhile, Desamito said her men also collared Andrei Ramos, 24, vendor, of Bgy. Sto. Tomas, Aliaga for illegal sale of fake cigarettes in Bgy. Bantug at 10:25 a.m.
She said the suspect was caught with 38 reams of assorted brands of fake cigarettes worth P10,000 loaded inside his tricycle.
Charges for violation of RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Code) have been referred for filing against the suspect before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
