2 drug, firearm dealers killed in separate clashes with cops

TWO armed drug and firearm trafficking suspects were killed in separate gunbattles with undercover officers of the Police Regional Office 10 early morning yesterday, PRO10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan said.

One of the suspects died after trading shots with members of the Lala Municipal Police Station in Lanao del Norte 6 in the morning, the official said.

According to Anduyan, the suspect identified as Abdul Javir Abubakar, a 34-year-old resident of Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion in Kolambugan municipality had just sold a packet of shabu to an undercover officer of the Lala MPS Drug Enforcement Team led by Major Jonan Banas in Purok 6, Panguil, Bgy. Lanipao when he sensed the ongoing entrapment operation and put up a fight.

The suspect first shot at the poseur but missed. He also shot one of the back-up operatives in the chest but the officer was saved by his bullet-proof vest. Anduyan said that the back-up agent returned fire in self-defense hitting the suspect who died while being taken to the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital.

Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one caliber .38 revolver with two spent casings and four live ammunition, seven plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the marked P500 bill paid to him by the poseur  and a motorcycle without license plate.

The second suspect identified as Klyd Jun Bryan Llamis,31, was killed in a shootout with undercover officers in Bolonsiri, Bgy. Camaman-an in Cagayan de Oro City, Anduyan said.

According to the official, members of the PRO10 Regional Special Operations Unit and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 2 were involved in the operation to arrest the suspect who also happened to be a known drug personality previously released from the Lumbia City Jail after availing of the plea bargaining program under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
