TWO suspected drug traffickers were killed in separate gunbattles in Oriental Mindoro over the weekened, Police Regional Office 4-B director Chief Superintendent Tomas C. Apolinario Jr. said.
One of the suspects identified only as alias “Benny,” was killed after exchanging fire with members of the Drug Enforcement Team of the Mansalay municipal police in Sitio Macawalo, Bgy. Villa Celestial around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday.
The suspect sensed the drug-bust and pulled out a gun and shot the poseur buyer but missed prompting other officers to return fire hitting the suspect. The suspect died while being taken to the Oriental Mindoro Southern District Hospital. Recovered from the suspect were a loaded .9mm pistol, nine plastic sachets of shabu, a plastic packet with dried marijuana leaves and the marked P1,000 bill.
The second suspect identified only as alias “Bisaya,” of Batangas City, was gunned down by members of the Calapan City DEU in a shootout in Sitio Bulalo, Bgy. Balite around 12:35 a.m. yesterday. The suspect’s companion escaped on a motorcycle. The two conspired to sell shabu to an undercover agent in Sitio Bulalo but the suspect shot it out with the lawmen when he sensed their presence. The suspect was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital. Recovered from him were a loaded .45 pistol, magazine containing three bullets, five plastic sachets of shabu and marked bills.
