2 drug targets killed in gunfight

TWO top drug traffickers in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region were killed in a gunbattle with security forces out to arrest them in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao early morning Friday, BAR police regional office director, Brigadier General Marni C. Marcos Jr. said.

According to Marcos, members of the BAR regional police force, the Army and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency swooped down on the suspects’ hideout in Barrio 5, Barangay Malala in Datu Paglas municipality around 7 a.m. Friday.

However, the officers were met with heavy gunfire from the suspects prompting them to retaliate killing top drug targets Sindatuk and Norhamin Pendaliday. Several other suspects including one identified as Andullah Pendaliday alias ‘Grasscutter’ managed to escape at the height of the firefight and are still being hunted as of press time, said the official.

Recovered during the operation were a plastic sachet containing around five grams of shabu worth P34,000, one caliber 5.56 M-16 automatic rifle with three magazines containing 70 live ammunition, one M-14 rifle with two magazines loaded with 30 bulles, two M-14 bandoliers and two motorcycles.

Marcos said that members of the Maguindanao Police Provincial Office headed by Colonel Arnold Santiago were principally involved in the operation, getting big help from the PDEA and the Army.
