TWO fishermen in Divilacan, Isabela on Sunday found a plastic bag containing about a kilo of cocaine worth P6 million while fishing along the shorelines in the area, a Police Regional Office 2 report said yesterday.
Isabela Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Mariano Rodriguez, said the fishermen whose names were withheld recovered the drugs while fishing in Siito Dituwanang in Barangay Bicobian, Divilacan town.
Rodriguez said that the fishermen immediately turned over their find to the Naval Intelligence and Security Group-Northern Luzon which eventually turned over the drugs to the Divilican Municipal Police Station headed by Captain Geriyell Frogoso.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 2 said that the drugs tested positive for cocaine during examination.
Following the incident, Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Angelito A. Casimiro called anew on Cagayan Valley residents particularly those living along the shorelines to immediately report to the nearest police station the discovery of ‘floating cocaine’ in their areas.
In February 2018, a blue container with 18 vacuum-sealed plastic bags of cocaine floated near the waters of Bgy. Dipudo in Divilacan. The drugs worth P79 milion were turned over by a local fisherman to the PDEA Region 2.
