SARIAYA, Quezon -- Police are still digging deeper into the death of two young men who were found lying along the shoulder of Eco-Tourism Road at Bgy. Talaan Aplaya on Wednesday morning.
Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman said the victims were identified by their relatives as Arnel Velasquez, 22, of Little Baguio, Bgy. Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City, and Janiel Villanueva, 26, of Bgy. Kalilayan, Unisan, Quezon.
De Guzman said that with the help of operatives from the police intelligence community, probers are still in the process of gathering information on the motives of the killing.
The victims bore bullet wounds in their heads and bodies, according to personnel of Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office who processed the crime scene. They said empty shells for cal. 9mm pistols were found near the bodies, indicating that the victims were killed right there.
Earlier rumors have it that the victims were just dumped in the place but were actually killed elsewhere.
Relatives of Velasquez told police that the latter was last seen alive at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday while driving a motorcycle and roaming at Purok Little Baguio, Bgy. Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City.
Supt. Julio Reyes Go, the newly-installed town police commander, said initial information gathered shows that illegal drugs had something to do with the killing but clarified that they are still having it verified.
“We’re still completing the results of our findings,” said Go.
