CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- Two men reportedly died after being shot by unidentified suspects in separate locations in Batangas City and Padre Garcia town, provincial police PIO chief Senior Insp. Hazel P. Luma-ang Suarez said the other day
Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin Aguilan Quilates identified the victims as Estelito U. Perez and Margarito Carpio Din.
Batangas City police commander Supt. Sancho O. Celedio, in his report, said Perez was onboard a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan (TPJ-974) traversing along the highway in Bgy. 7 at 5:30 p.m. when he was shot twice by an unidentified suspect, killing him on the spot. The suspect quickly fled.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team conducted a technical investigation, Celedio said.
Padre Garcia town police chief Senior Insp. Fernando O. Fernando said Carpio was shot dead in Bgy. Poblacion at 5:45 p.m. while waiting for a jitney ride when suddenly, he was shot several times by an unidentified suspect.
The suspect fled towards San Antonio, Quezon onboard a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, a depressed inmate, identified by city police as Pionilo Marasigan de Leon, hanged himself inside the Batangas Provincial Jail in Bgy. Cuta, Batangas City.
The incident transpired at 5:15 p.m.
Jail guard Ireneo Mendoza Jr. said he was about to serve food to De Leon when he discovered the lifeless body of the latter hanging from the ceiling on an electric wire looped around his neck.
Accordingly, the victim was suffering from depression regarding his criminal cases for violation of RA 10591 and RA 9516.
Police are investigating the incident.
