2 gunrunners die in Angeles encounter

ANGELES CITY – Two suspected gunrunners were killed during an entrapment operation conducted by the police in Barangay Anunas here before dawn yesterday.

Maj. Aris Gonzales, commander of police station 4 here, identified the killed suspects as Leoncio Ceballos, of legal age and resident of Barangay Sapangbato here, and Joshua Castro, of legal age and resident of Barangay Dau in nearby Mabalacat City.

Gonzales said the suspects were selling a firearm to poseur-buyer but after sensing that it was a buy-bust operation, they fired twice towards the policemen but missed. The operatives fired back and killed the suspects.

One Magnum cal. 357 Smith and Wesson revolver without serial number loaded with four live ammunition and two empty shells and two small plastic sachets of shabu were seized from Ceballos while one cal. .38 Shooter revolver with serial no.TRO3983341 containing four live ammunition were seized from Castro.

Gonzales said Ceballos was included in the police watchlist for drug personalities in this city while Castro was previously charged for theft after carting away the service shotgun of a security guard.

Earlier, PS4 operatives arrested one Aljon Adriano, 29, a high value target, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balibago.

Seized from the suspect were two sachets of shabu with estimated street value of P340,000.
