TWO still unidentified suspected drug dealers and gunrunners were killed in a shootout with the police in Santa Maria, Bulacan late Monday evening, officials said yesterday.
A cohort of the two identified as Ednumzug de Guzman, a 36-year-old resident of Barangay Mangahan in Sta. Maria town was also arrested during the operation in Malinta, Valenzuela City, said Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Chito G. Bersaluna.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel, the official said members of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region sought the help of the Santa Maria Municipal Police Station in intercepting the suspects who were on board a Mitsubishi Montero Sports with conduction sticker 030110 and a gray Honda sedan.
During the entrapment operation, the suspects reportedly sensed they were dealing with undercover policemen and engaged them in a shootout. Recovered from the slain suspects’ possession were several firearms, a hand grenade, some 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000 and assorted live ammunition.
The head of the CIDG Camanava office, Lt. Col. Charlie Cabradilla said the suspects agreed to sell four firearms to a poseur. The initial agreement was for the exchange to take place in Malinta, Valenzuela but the suspects changed it to Marilao and later to Santa Maria.
The official said they were checking the real identities of the slain suspects who were known only thru their aliases ‘Johan’ and ‘Kojak.’ De Guzman was arrested while on board the SUV.
