2 ‘kidnappers’ killed in Batangas firefight

CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas -- Two unidentified kidnappers were killed by joint police operatives during entrapment operation in Bgy. Sampaloc, Talisay town, provincial police PIO chief Senior Insp. Kerwin Amor Umali Cabrales said yesterday.

Batangas police director Senior Supt. Edwin A. Quilates said that at around 2:40 a.m., personnel of the Talisay and the Laurel Municipal police stations, in coordination with the Batangas Highway Patrol Team (HPT) conducted an entrapment operation regarding the reported kidnapping of Riz-John Sangalang Biscocho in Bgy. Berinayan on November 9, 2018 which resulted in an armed encounter.

Quilates said two unidentified men noticed that they were dealing with a police operative so he quickly drew his short firearm and fired at the victim and the police operatives, who returned fire.

He said the suspects were able to flee but was blocked by Talisay police and the HPT men who were positioned in Bgy. Sampaloc. A gunfight ensued, hitting the two suspects, who were later  brought to St. Andrew Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.
