TWO armed drug trafficking suspects were killed while 52 others wanted for various criminal offenses in Bulacan were arrested by the local police in a string of anti-criminality operations in the province this week, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.
Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Chito G. Bersaluna said that 36 of the 52 suspects arrested are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The official said the two slain suspects, one of them identified only as alias ‘Carlo’ shot it out with officers from the San Rafael Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit under Lt. Col. Laurente Aquiot at 4:40 a.m. Friday in Barangay Caingin in San Rafael municipality.
“The two sensed they were dealing with an undercover officer and tried to shoot the poseur prompting other back-up operatives to retaliate,” Bersaluna said.
Recovered from the slain suspects’ possession were two caliber .38 revolvers with nine live ammunition and several spent cartridges, 21 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and the marked money paid to them by the operative.
The suspect’s motorcycle with plate no. TZ 8860 was also impounded by the San Rafael police.
The other drug suspects were arrested in a string of buy-bust operations in the municipalities of Bocaue, Guiguinto, Hagonoy, Norzagaray, Pulilan, San Rafael, San Miguel and San Ildefonso and San Jose del Monte, Meycauayan and Malolos cities.
