TWO members of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) based in Camp Vicente Lim in Laguna are now facing charges for theft and robbery at the PNP Internal Affairs Service after they allegedly took cash and belongings from a suspected drug peddler in San Pedro City, Laguna.
Charged with robbery and grave abuse of authority were PO1 Mark Aldrin Abarientos and PO3 Eric Averion, among the raiding team reportedly led by Col. Reydante Ariza, of the Laguna Drug Enforcement Unit.
Complainant Josephine Ochoa, of Rosewood Village in Sta. Cruz Laguna, said the policemen reportedly entered their house without permission around 10:30 p.m. on July 20.
The complainant said the cops ransacked their house taking with them cash and jewelry amounting to P221,000 and a motorcycle.
The policemen were reportedly in the area for an alleged drug-bust on the daughter of the complainant identified as Jofavick Lizano.
However, Lizano denied she is into illegal drug activities saying she was taking a medicinal bath at the second floor of their house when the policemen arrived.
Lizano said she was arrested for drug peddling by the cops.
“Kinuha nila lahat pati mga barya sa bahay at kinain pa ang pinaluto kong embotido, “Lizano said in her complaint.
Meanwhile, barangay officials in Sta. Cruz said they never heard that Lizano is involved in any illegal activity and she has no previous record in their barangay.
Lizano said she is into the lending business and managing a small restaurant in the city.
