SECURITY forces on Friday arrested two suspected New People’s Army members in a counter-insurgency operation in Godod, Zamboanga del Norte, officials announced yesterday.
Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director, Major General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel, identified the two as Jovi Sangcom,24, and Joel Sandao, both suspected members of an NPA band led by one ‘Feliciano A’ and are said to be involved in gunrunning and extortion activities in the 3rd district of Zamboanga del Norte.
Coronel said members of the CIDG Region 9 office, the Police Regional Office 9 under Brigadier Gen. Froilan F. Quidilla and Armed Forces intelligence agents arrested the two in their hiding place in Barangay Delucot in Godod municipality at 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Recovered from the two were one Magnum caliber .22 revolver with five live ammunition and a loaded cal. .38 Smith & Wesson revolver.
The official said troops raided the suspects’ safehouse on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Rowena Carpitanos-Magallanes of the Salug-Godod Municipal Circuit Trial Court.
