MABALACAT City, Pampanga -- An octogenerian and his helper were killed after the acetylene tank they were using to repair electronic devices exploded in their shop in Bgy. Dau, here, the other day.
A report reaching Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, acting Police Regional Office 3 director, identified the fatalities as Narciso Bernardo, 81, and his helper Alejandro delos Santos, 54.
Investigators theorized that the victims were using the acetylene tank improperly that resulted to heated pressure and explosion.
The bodies of the two suffered shrapnel wounds and were burned. Both were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Meanwhile, seven drug personalities in various parts of the province were arrested in separate police operations last Dec. 11.
Coronel said the anti-drug operations were conducted in Lubao, Guagua, Magalang, Arayat and Mexico towns.
Arrested were Emmanuel Gutierrez, Cara Gaviola, Jennifer Gaviola, Randy Calma, Ryan Tumang, Darwin dela Cruz and Alvin Manese, all of legal age.
The operation also led to the confiscation of dozens of sachets of shabu.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
