POLICE officers and soldiers arrested in an operation two suspects in the killing of four policemen in Negros Oriental.
Suspect Jojo Torres Ogatis, 19, was taken to the 704th MC RMFB7 in Mabinas Negros Oriental for filing of appropriate charges.
Reports from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said Ogatis was arrested around 12 noon at Sitio Sook, Barangay Mabato Ayungon, Negros Oriental.
The suspect was positively identified by a witness as one of those who conducted the summary execution against the four policemen last July 18, at Situo Yamot, Barangay Mabato Ayungon.
During questioning, Ogatis tagged another suspect in the killing.
The second suspect was arrested by police and military in their follow-up operation.
PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde earlier relieved Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (PPO) Director Police Colonel Raul Tacaca to give way to an impartial probe on possible lapses the high profile killings in the province .
He also orderd the deployment of atleast 300 members of Special Action Force (SAF) to augment local police in their Anti- Criminality and internal security operation following reports of killings both in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.
Records showed that from July 23, a total of 13 people were killed including a lawyer who was allegedly an NPA supporter in Guihulngan City, a former mayor of Ayungon town, an incumbent councilor of Canlaon City, a barangay captain in Canlaon City, a school principal and his sister, who is an official of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Guihulngan City and a barangay captain also in Guihulngan City.
