3 die, 5 hurt in Zambales 3-vehicle smashup

STA. CRUZ, Zambales -- Three family members died while five others were seriously injured in a road accident involving a motorcycle, a tricycle and a passenger bus here Saturday evening.

Zambales Police Provincial Office director Senior Supt. Felix Verbo Jr. identified the fatalities as trike driver Tilyong Arbizo, his relatives Michelle Arbizo, 9, and Daniel Arbizo, 8, all of Bgy. Mapalad.

Those injured were motorcycle rider Justy Mendoza,  of Barangay Tubo-Tubo South; trike passengers Belong Arbizo, 10; Mikoy Arbizo, 4; Mika Arbizo, 3; and an unidentified girl. All are also residents of Bgy. Mapalad.

Local police said Mendoza was travelling on the national highway and behind him was the tricycle.
When they reached Bgy. Lipay, Mendoza suddenly lost control of his motorcysle and slid on the road.

To avoid Mendoza, Tilyong swerved but his trike crashed into an incoming bus.

The victims were rushed to the Ospital ng Sta. Cruz but Tilyong and the two kids were declared dead on arrival.

The driver of the Victory Liner bus voluntarily surrendered.
