FOUR suspected ISIS members/supporters in Lanao del Sur have been accounted for by local security forces this week amid ongoing government operations to neutralize members of the terror group which laid siege to Marawi City in May last year, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office director, Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares said yesterday.
The official said that last Wednesday, suspected ISIS members Ansano Macarimbang and Amin Sultan, both residents of Giyarong, Tubaran, Lanao del Sur surrendered to local police and military authorities in Barangay Maindig in Binidayan town.
The two also turned over two Garand rifles to officials during their surrender which was negotiated by Mayor Abdullah Datumolok.
Last November 16, members of the Binidayan Municipal Police Station captured suspected ISIS member Suhaili Kadir, a 22-year old resident of Balindong, Lanao del Sur during an operation in Bgy. Lumbac in Binidayan area.
The arrest of the suspect came following a tip from a concerned citizen regarding the presence of an alleged ISIS member who shot a man in their area. Officers led by Chief Inspector Alvison Mustapha arrested the suspect in a hot pursuit operation.
Last November 14, another suspected ISIS member identified as Abdullah Anso Hadji Razul,27, a resident of Bgy. Sumalindao in Sultan Dumalondong municipality turned himself over to local officials in Bgy. Lumbac.
Mijares said the suspect surrendered to Mayor Jamel Kurangking who turned him over to the Sultan Dumalondong Muncipal Police Station. In turn, the local police brought the surrenderer to the Army headquarters in Butig for custodial debriefing.
