3 Malabon shoplifters collared in Baguio

BAGUIO City -- Three alleged shoplifters from Malabon City were arrested on Monday by responding personnel of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO)-Station 7 at the public market by PO2 Mark Matbagan and PO2 Alvin Julian.

Police identified the suspects as Jose Abad Mendoza, 27, single, jobless; Thelma Burgos Calisagan, 50, single, jobless, and May Talisik Gonzalo, 55, single, jobless, all of Tugatog, Malabon City.

Reports said the suspects went inside the Pacific Market Place, Lower Session Road, posing as customers.

Calisagan talked with the saleslady to distract her attention while another suspect, Gonzalo, took items and hid them inside her garments while Mendoza served as lookout.

Rey Nisperos Ringor, 27, single, employed as CCTV watcher of the said establishment and a resident of Purok 3, Riverside, Guisad, saw the incident and was alarmed, prompting him to leave the CCTV room and went to intercept the suspects.

The suspects, however, ran away, leaving the stolen items, including a can (800g) of Nestle NAN Milk worth P890.90 and one plastic bottle (400 ml) of Nivea Body Lotion worth P280.90 at the promo area near the exit.

Ringor and his companions tracked down the suspects and found them along the City Public Market. They sought assistance from the police station which arrested the suspects.

The case against the suspects is being readied for inquest proceedings.
