3 Maute terrorists surrender

THREE members of Maute Terror Group ( MTG) including a minor  surrendered to government forces on Monday in Lanao del Sur.

This was confirmed yesterday by  Major Arvin Encinas, spokesman of Armed Forces of the Philippines ( AFP) - Western Mindanao Command ( Westmincom).

Encinas identified those who surrendered as Mail Tinga, 36; Jamil Dimasangcay, 24 and Juhari Mangotara, 16.

The three surrendered  at around 4:30 p.m. to elements of 82nd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Pawak, Saguiran, Lanao del Sur.

They surrendered after series of negotiation  with  government forces.

Record showed that  Mangotara and Dimasangcay  were former members of   Maute Group sub-leader  Imam who previously  fought against  government troops in Gacap, Piagapo in 2017 while Tinga was involved in the series of  armed engagements with soldiers in Butig and Piagapo in 2016.

Philippine Army’s 82nd IB Commander  Lt. Col. Rafman Altre said  the former terrorists also turned over one M79 grenade launcher and two caliber .45 handguns.
