THREE men wanted for various criminal offenses were arrested by agents of the Cagayan Police Provincial Office in separate operations in the province on Friday, local police director, Colonel Ariel N. Quilang said yesterday.
One of the suspects identified as Romel Baldovino, a 20-year-old fruit vendor from Mocag, Baggao, Cagayan was arrested in Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City on the strength of a warrant of arrest for carnapping issued by Judge Lyliha Abella-Aquino of the Tuguegarao City Regional Trial Court Branch 4, the official told Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Angelito A. Casimiro.
Quilang said the suspect is the 7th most wanted person in Baggao before he was monitored to be already living in Tuguegarao City. Officers led by Captain Reynaldo Viernes arrested the suspect following information provided by his co-accused.
A P180,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect.
Baggao policemen also arrested retired municipal employee Rene Espiritu,62, in his furniture shop in Zone 3, Assassi, Baggao which they raided for violation of the forestry law.
Officers led by Lieutenant Jhon Sarmiento and representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources raided the suspect’s place on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Sheila Gacutan-Labuengen and arrested him after they recovered 908 board feet of illegally-cut ‘gemelina’ flitches and lumber.
In Lasam municipality, policemen led by Cpt. Antonio Pallatao arrested Mark Kleyn, a 28-year-old farmer tagged as the 8th most wanted person in the municipality on the strength of a warrant of arrest for acts of lasciviousness issued by Judge Francisco Donato of the Ballesteros RTC Branch 33.
Quilang said the suspect was arrested in Bgy. Cabatacan East and is now being held at the local police jail pending his posting of a P180,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
