CARRANGLAN, Nueva Ecija – Three suspected members of a notorious robbery-carnap group operating in Pasig City and Bulacan were arrested during dragnet operations Wednesday evening here.
Nabbed were Joseph Claveria, 30, of Bgy. Salakot, San Miguel, Bulacan; Wendell Gregorio, 24, of Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City; and Maverick Almeida, 25, of San Miguel, Pasig City.
The suspects are reported members of the Claveria group allegedly linked to robbery and carnapping incidents in Bulacan and in Pasig City.
The trio also identified another alleged cohort – a certain alias Joshua, of Cainta, Rizal, who is now the subject of a police follow-up operation.
Provincial police officer-in-charge Col. Marvin Joe C. Saro said the three suspects were caught shortly after victimizing a woman and a fireman in Bgy. Capintalan at 7:20 p.m.
Saro said the group initially robbed Donna Lagoyo, 36, of her Samsung mobile phone and then stole the Yamaha Mio motorcycle of Leomar Bondoy, 26, of Bgy. Minuli.
Saro said he ordered a joint team from the Carranglan police, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Highway Patrol Team-Nueva Ecija, 84thIB, 7ID-Philippine Army to immediately set up dragnet operations in possible escape routes of the suspects which eventually led to their arrest in Bgy. Puncan.
MSgt. Nonato T. Aguilar, case prober, said the suspects, who were riding a white Isuzu Crosswind van, initially evaded a police checkpoint in Bgy. Digdig, but authorities gave chase until they were cornered in Sitio Tactac in Bgy. Puncan.
Foujd inside the van were the stolen motorcycle and Lagoyo’s mobile phone. Also seized were a grenade launcher, an improvised shotgun and two plastic sachets containing shabu.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, Republic Act 9165, RA 9516, carnapping and robbery were filed against the three arrested suspects before the provincial prosecutor’s office here.
