3 ranking NPA amazons captured by C. Valley cops

SECURITY forces on Tuesday arrested three suspected ranking New People’s Army female members in Cagayan Valley, two of them the subject of a P3.1 million reward offered by the government for their capture, following a series of raids in Cagayan province, Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Jose Mario M. Espino announced yesterday.

First to be arrested was Delilah Padilla alias ‘Delay/Dilay,’ described as a staff member of the Cagayan Valley CPP/NPA’s Southern Front Committee who carries a P700,000 bounty on his head offered by the Department of National Defense and Department of the Interior and Local Government, the official said in a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Oscar D. Albayalde.

Espino said that the suspect was arrested in Barangay Leonarda in Tuguegarao City at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday by members of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the PRO2 Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Mobile Force Division, Tuguegarao City Police Station and the Armed Forces.

PNP-CIDG director, Major General Amador V. Corpus said that officers from the CIDG Region 2 office headed by Colonel Santiago Pascual led the operations following weeks of surveillance conducted with the help of the PRO2.

According to Espino, suspect Padilla is the subject of warrants of arrest for direct assault with murder issued on March 31, 2006 by Judge Renato Pine of the Ilagan, Isabela Regional Trial Court Branch 17; a warrant for murder issued by Judge Isaac de Alban of the Ilagan Isabela RTC Branch 16 on September 8, 2008;  a warrant for robbery-in-band issued on July 4, 2007 by Judge Reymundo Aumentado of the Cauayan City, Isabela RTC Branch 20; and a warrant for frustrated homicide issued on November 14, 2016 by Judge Alban.

No bail was recommended for the suspect’s temporary liberty in connection with the charges for direct assault with murder and murder cases filed against her.

Espino said that separate follow-up operations in Bgys. Barbarit and Naddungan in Gattaran, Cagayan 7 p.m. Tuesday led to the capture of Violeta Ricardo alias’ Issa/Marissa’ and Cristina Miguel Garcia alias ‘Senyang.’

He said that Ricardo is known as the deputy secretary of the CPP/NPA’s Northern Front Committee and head of the rebel movement’s regional finance office who is wanted for three counts of murder and frustrated murder and rebellion.

Ricardo is the subject of a P2.4 million monetary reward offered by the DILG-DND.

On the other hand, Garcia is wanted for three counts of murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder and qualified assault upon an agent of a person in authority.

Espino said that one Carol Ballesta,50, a resident of Bgy. Leonarda was arrested for obstruction of justice after she was found to be harboring the wanted Padilla.

Ballesta will be facing charges for trying to prevent officers from arresting Padilla, the official said. All suspects are now being held at the CIDG Cagayan field office in Camp Adduru in Tuguegarao City.
