THIRTY suspected drug personalities and other wanted persons were arrested by agents of the Cebu City Police Office in simultaneous anti-criminality and anti-drug operations in the city which resulted in the seizure of around P1.8 million worth of shabu on Friday, a report to Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas said yesterday.
Cebu City police director, Senior Supt. Royina M. Garma said nine other persons wanted for drug-related charges were also arrested during their simultaneous conduct of the Philippine National Police Enhanced Managing Police Operations previously known as ‘One-Time, Big-Time’ operations against criminality in the city from 8 p.m. Thursday up to 8 p.m. Friday.
The official said the 30 suspected drug dealers were arrested in 23 actual buy-bust operations and are now facing non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Those operations led in the confiscation of 219 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing nearly 150 grams of shabu with a local market value of around P1.8 million and the marked money paid by undercover officers to the suspects.
Among those arrested were Jerald Capanas, 38; and Dario Umpad, 41. Capanas was arrested during a sting in Sitio Torre in Barangay Inayawan which led in the confiscation of around P!53,000 worth of shabu.
Umpad yielded some P64,000 worth of shabu during an entrapment operation in Sitio Kawayan in Bgy. Kamputhaw.
