UNDERCOVER police officers on Friday evening shot and killed an armed drug trafficker following a shootout in Marawi City, officials said yesterday.

Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office director, Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares identified the slain suspect as Joym Disoma, a 31-year old resident of Barangay Poblacion in Marawi City.

The official said the suspect had just sold a packet of shabu to a plainclothes officer in his neighborhood around at 7:30 p.m. Friday when he pulled out a concealed firearm after sensing the entrapment operation.

The suspect opened fire at the poseur but missed prompting a back-up operative to return fire killing the former on the spot. Recovered from the slain suspect’s possession were one loaded caliber .45 pistol, a marked P500 bill he received from the agent and a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.

Another anti-narcotics operation in Bgy. Poblacion in Marantao, Lanao del Sur early morning yesterday led in the arrest of Faisah Macud,30, a resident of Bgy. Mapanto in Lumbabayabao municipality.

Mijares said the female suspect was arrested after she sold drugs to an undercover officer. The suspect yielded 5 plastic packets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ 2 marked P100 bills and P750 in different denominations, all believed to be part of her drug proceeds.
