4 drug dealers held in Cagayan Valley

FOUR known drug traffickers in Cagayan Valley were hauled to jail by the local police in separate buy-bust operations in Cagayan and Isabela provinces last Sunday, Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Jose Mario M. Espino said yesterday.

The official identified the four as Reynaldo Yacat,57, a resident of Barangay Maddarulug Norte in Enrile, Cagayan; Jenny Castor, 29, of Bgy. Bugallon Proper in Ramon, Isabela; Marvin Garcia, 28, of Bgy. Calamagui 1st, Ilagan City in Isabela; and John Aldreich Isla,23, of Bgy. Antagan 1st in Tumauini, Isabela.

Espino said Yacat was arrested 11:35 p.m. Sunday in Bgy. Centro Southwest in Solana, Cagayan shortly after he sold shabu to an undercover officer.

He said during the sting, the suspect sensed he was dealing with a policeman and tried to shoot the cop with a caliber .38 revolver. The agent returned fire  hitting the suspect in the chest. An unidentified companion of the suspect managed to escape on board a motorcycle and is still being hunted as of press time, Espino said.

Recovered from the wounded suspect were a loaded .38 revolver, two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and P2,000 in marked bills.

The three other suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations near their neighborhood. All arrested suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A separate case for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and direct assault against an agent of a person in authority will also be filed against Yacat, Espino added.
