FOUR persons were killed while 50 others were seriously wounded after the tourist bus they were riding collided with a trailer truck on Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) near Concepcion, Tarlac early yesterday morning.
According to a report to the Public Commuters and Motorists Alliance (PCMA), tourist guide Ruel Castillo, passengers Ricardo Aledia, Isidro Brabante, and Laila Abita, all of Naic, Cavite, were declared dead upon arrival at the Concepcion District Hospital in Tarlac.
The other injured passengers were rushed to the Medical City in Clark, Pampanga; AUF Hospital in Angeles City; Mabalacat District Hospital; Tiglao Hospital; Concepcion District Hospital; Ospital Ning Capas; Capas District Hospital; and Tarlac Provincial Hospital.
North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Traffic, Safety and Management head Robin Ignacio said the speeding tourist bus driven by Michael Sangcajo, 37, rear ended the truck driven by Antonio Bulante, around 5 a.m. on SCTEx in Barangay Santiago, Concepcion.
Meanwhile, Passenger Accident Management and Insurance Agency Inc., (PAMI) operations manager Bong Nocum said they have already released at least P2 million as financial aid to the victims and their families.
Nocum said each fatality is entitled to P200,000 burial claims while the injured will get P25,000,
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) immediately suspended the operation of the remaining units of Jumbo Transport Inc.
