4 killed, 6 hurt in Rizal town shooting spree

POLICE Regional Office 4-A director Chief Supt. Edward Carranza yesterday ordered a massive hunt for a man who went on a shooting spree in Teresa, Rizal early Thursday evening killing four people and injuring six others, including two responding policemen.

Carranza ordered Rizal Police Provincial Office director Sr. Supt. Lou  Evangelista to see to it that suspect John Albert Araojo will be arrested at all cost.

Araojo, armed with a pistol, went berserk for no  apparent reason in Carissa Homes East 1 in Bgy. Bagumbayan, Teresa, Rizal at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday initially shooting Ruben Francisco and Wilfredo Lukban who both died on the spot.

The suspect then shot tricycle driver Celso Bernales who was waiting for a passenger in a local tricycle terminal.
Bernales  was also killed on the spot.

Araojo later fired shots at a mobile car of the Teresa Municipal Police Station, injuring PO3 Emiliano Pantaleon and PO1 Eleuterio Mina.

Both policemen were brought to the Camp Crame General Hospital for  emergency treatment.

The suspect also shot tricycle drivers Joel Gasingan and Darwin Alvarez and bystanders  Renato Dacuya, Edrick John Borak and Marvin Miotin who was seriously injured.

Miotin died while undergoing treatment at the St. Therese Hospital.

The gunman also stole at gunpoint the motorcycle of 57-year-old Nenita Gatdula before fleeing towards the direction of the nearby Morong municipality.

Evangelista said they have requested the San Andres Municipal Police Station in Catanduanes to help them track down the suspect.

The official said they have discovered that Araojo is a nephew of Rudy Satairapan, the incumbent chairman of Bgy. Agojo in San Andres town.

Recovered at the crime scene were 14 spent pistol cartridges and two deformed slugs.
