FOUR armed drug dealers were killed in separate firefights with undercover policemen in Talisay City on Tuesday, Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas reported yesterday.
The official identified the slain suspects as Rodel Nacario, Kevin Baguio, Rodrigo Alvarez and Victor Noel Alvarez.
He said that Nacario, 29, and Baguio, 30, exchanged fire with plainclothes officers inside the Hawod Compound in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City at 3:55 in the morning after sensing they were dealing with cops. Officers returned fire killing the duo on the spot.
According to Sinas, members of the Talisay City Police Station headed by Supt. Marlu Conag conducted the entrapment operation amid reports that Nacario is one of the biggest drug dealers in his neighborhood apart from being a suspected gun-for-hire.
He said that the suspects apparently panicked after realizing they were dealing with a cop and offered an armed resistance which led to their death. Recovered from the slain suspects’ possession were one loaded caliber .38 revolver and a cal. .357 pistol, 60 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and the marked money paid to them by a poseur.
Sinas said that Nacario was formerly affiliated with the late drug personality Steve Go and has been monitored bragging his association with an alleged former agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency identified only as alias’ Yap.’
Sinas said that recovered from the suspects were an estimated 1.2 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P8.160 million, the boodle money topped by several marked P1,000 bills, P25,000 in cash all believed to be part of the slain suspects’ drug proceeds and various drug paraphernalia including a digital weighing scale and plastic sachets being used to repack the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ prior to their distribution to the local market.
