CABANATUAN CITY -- Exactly a week after Nueva Ecija declared the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People’s Army, persona non-grata, four members of the terrorist organization surrendered to the Nueva Ecija police on Monday.
Col. Leon Victor Z. Rosete, provincial police director, said the four rebels who were identified by their aliases as Ka Billy, 70; Ka Igor/Ka Rey, 56, Ka Boy/Ka Blacky, 75 and Ka Boy Basa, 57, all of San Jose City, gave themselves up to the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company under its commander, Lt. Col. Norman C. Cacho.
Rosete said they are now under police custody and undergoing tactical debriefing procedure at the 2nd PMFC.
He said Cacho and his men facilitated the surrender of the four rebels in Bgy. Pinili at 5 p.m. Monday.
According to Rosete, Ka Billy was a former secretary of the Alyansang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas and the Dimitrio Munoz Transit Union. He was also a former sub-leader of the Metro Manila Transit Corporation under Kilusang Mayo Uno operating in the Metro Manila area and a political organizer of the KLG Caraballo.
Ka Igor/Ka Rey was described as a former member of the Hukbo ng Bayan and vice-president and organizer of Pambansang Kilusan ng Magsasaka (PKM). He was also a former member of KLG Caraballo operating in the area of Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya and Kalinga-Apayao. He also gave up one improvised rifle to the police.
Rosete said Ka Boy/Ka Blacky was a former assistant secretary of Samahang Magsasaka under the leadership of Alberto Macabitas alias Ka Tabungaw, the known founder of the group, under KLG Caraballo operating in San Jose City and the towns of Lupao and Carranglan.
The fourth rebel personality surrendered to the police an improvised shotgun with two live ammunition.
