AGENTS of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office early yesterday morning rescued six Chinese women said to be being offered for commercial sex in a local pension house and arrested their compatriot acting as their pimp, Police Regional Office 7 director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said.
Sinas said that the six identified as Ling Sun, Dandan He, Rong Mo, Ziqin Chen, Detang Liang and Due Tang were found inside the A’s Guest House located in Bgy. Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City at 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
Arrested in the same hotel was Huan Zhang, the alleged pimp, who is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
According to Sinas, the operation stemmed from a text message sent by a concerned citizen to the local police regarding the presence of some Chinese women said to be being offered for commercial sex by a female Chinese.
Undercover officers placed the establishment under surveillance and later discovered the presence of a newly-arrived Chinese man who was met by one of the female Chinese before being brought to the other girls.
The women locked themselves in their rooms when they saw the officers.
Zhang was placed under arrest after the pension house’s owner, Jocelyn Araneta, identified her as the “handler” of the other women.
