SIX persons were killed including a minor while 20 others were injured after a truck slammed into a church in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, Saturday afternoon.
According to a report from the Public Commuters and Motorists Alliance (PCMA), a truck with at least 50 persons onboard crashed into a church in Barangay Limonan.
A witness said it was raining hard and the road was slippery when the truck suddenly swerved and slammed into an Iglesia Ni Cristo church.
No one was hurt among the people inside the church but three of the truck passengers died on the spot.
The injured were rushed to the Pagadian City for treatment.
The three victims killed on the spot were Gerelyn Chavez, 2; Jhon Brynt Albano, 19; and Boboy Cuesta, 34, all of Bgy. Burawin, Tabina in Zamboanga del Sur.
Three of those injured later died in the hospital.
The truck was traveling from Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay where the victims attended a wedding.
Meanwhile, the PCMA reminded motorists to be extra-careful while driving.
“Nagtataka lang kami kasi kabi-kabila ang mga road safety seminars sa buong bansa pero parang ang publiko ay hindi natututo sa mga bloody accident na pumapatay ng mga inosenteng indibidwal pati na mga bata,” the PCMA said.
