6 NPA rebs yield in Isabela

SIX members of the New People’s Army this week surrendered to officials of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) following a series of negotiations triggered by the ex-rebels intention to return to the mainstream of the society which they relayed to their relatives and friends, PNP-IG director, Brigadier General Edgar S. Monsalve announced yesterday.

Four of the confessed NPA guerrillas were identified as Juanito Liagao alias ‘Ka Abag,’ his wife Maura Balingao alias ‘Ka Berna,’ Julio Liagao alias’ Ka Yasel’ and the latter’s wife Romana Tangilag alias ‘Ka Maya,’ the PNP-IG chief said.

In a report to PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the official said that the four yielded to officers of the Regional Intelligence Unit 14 and the Cordillera Police Regional Office Regional Intelligence Division after several weeks of negotiations.

Monsalve said that the four also turned over one Garand rifle and one AR Armalite rifle with two loaded magazines when they surfaced at Camp Juan Duyan in Bulanao, Tabuk City in Kalinga province at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The four were identified as members of the NPA’s Milisyang Bayan operating in Balbalan, Kalinga under the NPA Lejo Cawilan Command.

The 5th identified as Beth Pamilyang alias ‘Ka Sabel/Ayel,’ said to be a member of the NPA’s Iskwad Primera/Segunda Komiteng Larangang Gerilya in Tarlac/Zambales surrendered to RIU3 and PRO3 operatives in Bgy. Balaybay in Castillejos, Zambales last Tuesday.

The 6th identified as Jonard Aquino alias’ Ka Ronald’ also yielded to RIU3 and PRO3 operatives last Monday. Monsalve said that Aquino also surrendered one M-67 fragmentation grenade without serial number when he presented himself to officers at the 305th Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 headquarters in Barangay Balaybay in Castillejos municipality.

Monsalve said that Aquino confessed to be a member of the NPA’s Guerilla Intelligence (Paniktik), Militia ng Bayan (Kandidatong Kasapi) and Komiteng Larangang Gerilya Tarlac Zambales (KLG TarZam) under the rebels’ Joselito Cardines Command.
