6 wanted men in countryside fall

SIX wanted persons were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a string of manhunt operations in the countryside this week, PNP-CIDG chief, Major General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel reported yesterday.

One of the suspects identified as Felomino Salazar Jr alias ‘Jun Salazar/Lino Salazar/Celso,’ a known New People’s Army member wanted for 15 counts of murder was arrested in an operation in Barangay Tinago in Inopacan, Leyte, the official said.

Coronel said Salazar, described as a National Democratic Front consultant and former member of the Executive Committee of the CPP/NPA’s Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee was placed under arrest on the strength of a warrant for 15 counts of murder issued by Judge Thelma Bunyi-Medina of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 32.

The suspect was arrested by members of the Northern CIDG Leyte with the assistance of the Army’s 14th Infantry Brigade and the Police Regional Office 8.

Another identified as Richard Bacani,34, a suspected member of a gang involved in theft and robbery in Abra and other parts of Central Luzon and Ilocos-Pangasinan region was arrested in San Nicolas, Victoria, Tarlac by local CIDG operatives on the basis of a warrant of arrest for robbery issued by Judge Corpuz Alzate of the Bangued, Abra RTC Branch 2.

A 3rd suspect identified as Aldo Macumao was arrested in Purok 1, Bgy. Plaridel in Claveria, Misamis Oriental on the strength of a warrant for theft issued by Judge Gil Bollozos of the Cagayan de Oro City RTC Branch 21.

The suspect was described as a member of a gang involved in theft and robbery and money counterfeiting in Northern Mindanao.

A 4th identified as Gerald Apsay Jr., the 4th most wanted in Samal, Bataan was arrested for a qualified theft case.

A 5th suspect identified as Gerry Doller, the 4th most wanted in Mandaue City in Cebu where he is known to be engaged in the drug trafficking and gun-for-hire activities was arrested on the basis of a warrant for two counts of rape issued by Judge Fruto Teodorico III of the Mandaue City RTC Branch 86.

The 6th identified as Randy Peñamora, the no. 1 most wanted person in Infanta, Quezon  was arrested in Binondo, Manila by CIDG-National Capital Region agents under Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay on the basis of a warrant for murder issued by Judge Arnel Mesa of the Infanta RTC Branch 65.
