8 drug traffickers arrested in Mindanao, Luzon stings

EIGHT suspected shabu dealers in Mindanao and Luzon were arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations over the weekened.

Police Regional Office 9 director Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis D. Licup yesterday said one of the suspect  nabbed in Zamboanga peninsula was identified  as Marissa Obrero alias “Lisa Obrero,” 58, of Tangke, Talisay City in Cebu province. She was arrested by members of the Sindangan municipal police and the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit  based on a warrant for selling and possession of illegal drugs issued by Judge Glenda Go, of the Talisay City Regional Trial Court Branch 65, in Barangay Lawis, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Licup said the second suspect identified as Andy Ayub alias “Janggo,” 46, a laborer from Bgy. Mampang in Zamboanga City, was arrested in  a buy-bust at the Baliwasan Seaside near the Petron Wharf around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday. Recovered from the suspect were 14 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some P2,800 worth of shabu and two marked P100 bills paid to him by an undercover officer.

The third suspect identified  as Rene Sola, 41, of Champa Drive, Sta. Catalina, Zamboanga City, was nabbed after he sold drugs to an undercover officer of the Zamboanga City police. The suspect yielded a plastic sachet of shabu and the marked P500 bill.

The fourth suspect, 36-year-old Karnuk Tero yielded five plastic sachets of hsabu and two marked P100 bills when police nabbed him in Bagong Silang Drive, Tumaga, Zamboanga City 2 a.m.

In Cotabato, two men were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in separate drug stings.

PDEA chair Director General Aaron N. Aquino identified the suspects as Donald Sanchez,37; and Roger Campos,35, both suspected members of the Centro Drug Group operating in Kabacan, Cotabato and its nearby municipalities.

Aquino said Sanchez was arrested  by members of the PDEA Regional 12 and the local police who raided his house in Zamora Street, Poblacion, Kabacan. The raiding team confiscation  three plastic sachets of shabu worth P34,000 and a canister containing assorted drug paraphernalia.

Another raid at the residence of Campos in Purok 5, Bgy. Osias also in Kabacan led in the arrest of Zamora for illegal possession of shabu with a local market value of P24,000.

Meanwhile in Cagayan Valley, two were arrested in separate buy-busts, Police Regional Office 2 director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario M. Espino said yesterday.

Espino identified the suspects as Wilson Gabriel, 28, a farmer from Santiago City, and Michael Jake Turo, 34, of Tuao, Cagayan.

Espino said Gabriel, a resident of Purok 3, Cagguilingan, Cordon, Isabela was arrested by undercover officer from the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Santiago City Police Office during a sting in Barangay Villasis past 1 p.m. Wednesday. Recovered from him were a plastic sachet of shabu and the marked money.

On the same day, Espino said members of the Tuao municipal police nabbed Turo in an entrapment in Bgy. Centro 1.

The suspect yielded a plastic sachet of shabu and the marked P1,000 paid to him by an undercover officer.
