STO. DOMINGO, Nueva Ecija — Eight persons said to be supporters of former mayor Greg Andres were nabbed following the serving of arrest warrants against them for perjury by the police here on Saturday.
Police head Maj. Abraham Atencio identified those eight nabbed as Olympia Delegra, 65, of Bgy. Malaya; Rocky Bagsic, 32, of Purok 3, Bgy. Baloc; Joannalyn Carang, 30, of Purok 5, Bgy. Malaya; Macario Pagaling, 53, of Purok 2, Bgy. Sagaba; Cristina Dansalan, 42, of Purok 8, Bgy. Baloc; Melinda Gungon, 58, of Bgy. Malaya; Benjamin Cabading, 35, of Bgy. San Pascual; and Fe Toledo, 62, of Bgy. San Fabian.
They were jailed following the issuance of separate arrest warrants against them by various local courts for the crime of perjury which was received by the police on Sept. 21.
Atencio said the courts have recommended a bail of P18,000 for the temporary liberty of each of 18 accused.
Andres, who was defeated by Mayor Imee Llado-De Guzman in their electoral contest during last May’s polls, said these eight arrested persons were his supporters, who are allegedly his witnesses in an electoral sabotage case his camp filed against De Guzman in a local court here.
Their arrest came a day after two of the former mayor’s leaders —spouses Herman and Imelda Moreno — were gunned down by two unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants while the duo were on the way to his house here on Friday.
