Abducted doctor rescued in Sulu

GOVERNMENT forces rescued a doctor who was abducted by members of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) a month ago in Indanan, Sulu.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)-Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) Commander Lt.Gen.Cirilito Sobejana identified the victim as Dr. Daniel Moreno.

Sobejana said the victim was rescued by members of 1102nd Infantry Brigade at around 7:30 pm Indanan, Sulu during a military operation against

At the height of the firefight, the bandits left the victim in the area and fled towards an  unknown direction.

Sobejana said the victim was subjected to medical examination shortly after his release.

As of press time, there are five more kidnap victims in the hands of the Abu Sayyaf group.

Sobejana said the group was asking for ₱3 million in exchange for Moreno's freedom, but stressed that no ransom was paid by the Moreno family.

Record showed that Moreno was abducted by armed men from his clinic in Julo, Sulu on February 4,2020.
