Aircraft wreckage found in Mindoro

THE wreckage of Beechcraft Baron 55 (BE55) trainer aircraft that has been reported missing after its take off Friday morning at San Jose Airport was located 43.52 km, south of Mindoro.

According to Eric Apolonio, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the search and rescue team reported to CAAP Operation Center that one of its aircrafts, a Cessna Caravan seaplane, found a bag with identification of the pilot in command, Capt. Jose Nelson Yapparcon.

He said further search revealed that six small and big debris of the missing aircraft, which was operated by Orient Aviation Corporation, was found floating at 12:06 p.m.

Apolonio said the whereabouts of the two passengers of the ill-fated aircraft, Capt. Yapparcon and student pilot Saudi national Abdullah Alsharif, cannot be ascertained yet.

CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) investigators were immediately dispatched at the crash site to conduct investigation and determine the cause of the incident, he added.
