CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police on Saturday busted a group of notorious drug pushers with the arrest of its four members and the seizure of a million peso worth of marijuana dried leaves in a sting in Bgy. Pulung Bulu, Angeles City.
Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, acting director of the Police Regional Office 3, identified the suspects as Jayvee Canillo, Joshua Manzano, Charles Liclican and Nicole Meneses.
Canillo and Manzano were residents of Bgys. Pandan and Mining in Angeles City while Liclican and Meneses were from Baguio City.
Coronel said the arrested suspects were engaged in the distribution of marijuana dried leaves in Angeles City and neighboring areas.
Police said the suspects served as suppliers of marijuana to big night clubs and karaoke bars in the red light district of Bgy. Balibago and Bgy. Malabanas, including the big night spots located at the stretch of Friendship Highway in Angeles City owned and operated by Korean nationals.
The span of Friendship Highway is now home to Korean establishments, including restaurants, sauna parlor, clubs and other entertainment industry. The vicinity of Friendship Highway is now known as “Korean City” or a city within the city.
Operatives of the Angeles City Police Office discovered the bundles of marijuana dried leaves inside House Number 6020B in Pamintuan Square in Bgy. Pulung Bulu after a buy-bust was completed.
Canillo, who was the subject of the drug bust, reportedly panicked and ran inside his rented apartment upon seeing the policemen who were about to arrest him.
Authorities chased Canillo and found the bundles of marijuana dried leaves rolled in a plastic wrapper.
The suspects are now detained at the Angeles District Jail facing charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
