CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City – Joint operatives of the Sorsogon City Police Station and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Friday arrested another suspected child abductor in Sorsogon.
PNP regional office spokesperson Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib identified the suspect as Evangeline Butron Erapsa, 53, a resident of 1297 Puma St., Post Proper, Southside, Makati City and a native of Bgy. Looc, Sierra Bullones in Bohol.
Erapsa was arrested in a pursuit operation in Bgy. Balugo.
Calubaquib said a boy and the mother of another young boy positively identified Erapsa as the one who attempted to abduct the victims.
The mother, who requested anonymity, said the suspect was with companions in a vehicle who tried to abduct her son and another young boy.
The boys sought the help of the village officials in Bgy. Balugo who immediately called the police and pursued the suspects.
Probers are investigating if Erapsa is connected with a syndicate involved in human trafficking or alleged sale of human organs.
Mayor Noel Rosal, meanwhile, appealed to local residents to avoid panic after social media accounts posted the existence of “child abductors” allegedly roaming in Legazpi City.
Rosal, chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council for Bicol, asked the Legazpi City PNP to field additional police in the city following the arrest of Erapsa.
Last February 12, suspected child kidnapper 22-year-old Elena Jodilla of Bagumbayan Sur, Naga City was caught by barangay officials in South Centro, Sipocot, Camarines after she tried to abduct a 12-year-old boy who was able to escape.
