A 48-HOUR simultaneous anti-criminality and anti-narcotics operations in Central Visayas resulted in the arrest of over 230 suspects and the seizure of nearly P14 million worth of shabu, Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas said yesterday.
“The arrests and seizures were made in the aftermath of the conduct of the Simultaneous Enhanced Managing Police Operations in the region, which targeted all drug dealers and users and other criminals in one sweep,” Sinas told the Journal Group.
The operations in Cebu, which started at 4 a.m. on Thursday, saw the local police arresting 42 suspects during the service of 40 search warrants, 80 drug dealers caught during 56 buy-bust operations, and the arrest of eight others wanted for crimes such as murder, homicide and theft.
Cebu Police Provincial Office director Sr. Supt. Manuel Abrugena said that their anti-drug operations led in the recovery of 40 assorted firearms and 740 plastic sachets containing nearly 194 grams of the “poor man’s cocaine” worth P1.314 million.
In Tagbilaran City, Bohol, local policemen arrested Alfredo dela Cerna, 23; and Dennis Cuizon, 38; after they conspired to sell some P142,000 worth of shabu to an undercover officer in Purok 3, Bgy. Dao at 9 p.m. on Friday.
In Cebu City, local policemen under Sr. Supt. Royina Garma seized around P13.5 million worth of shabu and arrested 58 suspects during the conduct of anti-crime and anti-drug operations.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2002 will be filed against the arrested suspects.
