Apolinario leads sendoff for Mimaropa cops set for poll duty

POLICE Regional Office 4-B director Brig. Gen. Tomas Apolinario Jr. on Thursday led the send-off ceremony for PRO4-B officers and men who will be helping guard a peaceful and orderly May 13 national and local elections in the whole Mimaropa region.

Apolinario reminded his men that security is everyone’s responsibility.

He likewise encouraged the public to report to the nearest police station any untoward incident which can affect the safety of the election.

The official said that calls for assistance or complaints can be relayed to the PRO4-B hotline numbers (Smart-0998-598-5794),  (Globe-0917-626-9671) and the Regional Election Monitoring Center with its TxtBlast- 0947-654-0045, Smart - 0928-967-6742 and Globe- 0967-275-436

Apolinario said that a total of 4,690 PRO4-B personnel will be helping guard 1,552 voting centers and 2,679 clustered precincts in the region, where there are a total of 1,831,328 registered voters residing in 1,460 barangays in the area.

He said that 65 teams composed of 622 PRO4-B personnel assigned at the regional headquarters and 470 Armed Forces members will also form their Quick Reaction Forces that will be strategically deployed to help address possible problems during the actual polls and during the counting of votes.

After the send-off ceremony held at the PRO4-B headquarters, Apolinario also organized the 5th Regional Joint Security Control Center Meeting to review all the preparations and coordinating guidelines with their partner agencies.

The event was attended by PRO4-B regional Comelec director lawyer Monalisa Mamukid, Brig. Gen. Lauro Tianchon, the deputy commander of the AFP Western Command, and other senior PNP and AFP officers in the region.

Apolinario assured the participants that the election in the region will be safe and peaceful as he called on his men to remain steadfast and highly vigilant against all forms of lawless incidents, especially on this crucial time when the Philippine National Police is the nation’s frontline against lawlessness and disorder.
