STEPPED-UP anti-narcotics operation by the Bulacan Police Provincial Office this week led in the killing of another armed suspect during a gunbattle in Pulilan town and the arrest of 10 others in separate buy-bust operations across the province, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.
The slain suspect identified as Rommel Vicente, a 30-year old resident of Sitio Tramo in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Pulilan exchanged fire with undercover officers in Palayan Street in Bgy. Cutcot after he sensed the operation to entrap him at 2:50 a.m. Wedneday, said Pulilan Municipal Police Station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gil Domingo.
Domingo said that the suspect who is included in their watch list of drug personalities yielded six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, the marked money he received from a poseur, a mobile phone and a loaded caliber .38 revolver with one bullet and three fired cartridges in its cylinder.
A tricycle used by the suspect in transporting the drugs was also impounded by the local police.
The 10 other suspects were arrested in a string of buy-bust operations in Malolos City and San Jose del Monte City and the municipalities of San Rafael, Balagtas, Santa Maria, Bulacan and Marilao.
Recovered from their possession were 29 plastic sachets with shabu, seven plastic sachets with dried marijuana leaves and the marked money they received from undercover officers.
All suspects are now facing charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 said Bulacan police director, Col. Chito Bersaluna.
