Armed Sulu dealer slain in gunfight

POLICE early morning yesterday shot and killed an armed drug trafficking suspect following a gunbattle that marred the conduct of a buy-bust operation in Patikul, Sulu, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office director, Brigadier General Marni Marcos Jr. said.

Marcos identified the slain suspect only as one alias ‘Abu,’ a resident of Barangay Gandasuli in Patikul who has been listed in the order of battle of the Philippine National Police Directorate for Intelligence.

The official said that members of the Patikul Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the entrapment operation with the assistance of the Sulu Police Provincial Office, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

He said that the suspect had just handed the drugs to the undercover officer when he sensed he was being entrapped and tried to shoot the poseur. Back-up operatives returned fire killing the suspect.

Marcos said that recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one caliber .45 pistol with serial no. 749105 with a magazine containing two live ammunition, two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, several drug paraphernalia and the marked money he received from the undercover agent.
