AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Wednesday arrested a 62-year-old former mayor of Mahinog, a Camiguin province wanted for violation of the anti-graft and corrupt practices act, PNP-CIDG Officer-in-Charge, Brigadier General Bernabe M. Balba said yesterday.
The official identified the accused as Alex Jajalla, now a businessman residing in Barangay Hubangon in Mahinog, a fifth class municipality.
Balba said members of the CIDG Regional Field Unit headed by Lieutenant Colonel Raymund Liguden arrested the suspect on the strength of an arrest order issued by the Sandiganbayan.
The official said that shortly after the CIDG RFU10 received the Sandiganbayan order issued by Associate Justice Ma. Theresa Dolores Gomez-Estoesta, the chairperson of the Sandiganbayan 7th Division, a team of officers led by Major Jericho Cuyopan went to Mahinog where they located the ex-mayor with the help of the local police at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
