Army chief talks to jungle fighters in Tanay

CAMP Brig. General Mateo Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal -- The newly-installed commanding general of the Philippine Army visited the home of the second Infantry Jungle Fighter Division, here, yesterday.

Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto was warmly welcomed with traditional military honors by Maj. Gen. Rhoderick Parayno, commander of the 2nd ID, together with the officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees of the division.

During the talk, the commanding general expressed his gratitude to  the soldiers for the warm reception bestowed to him and his party by the jungle fighters. He also reminisced his experiences during the Scout Ranger Orientation Course training he took at the 2ID camp.

He also acclaimed the strategic importance of 2ID in the overall peace and security campaign of the AFP, especially 2ID, is the National Capital Region’s (NCR) nearest Philippine Army Major Unit (PAMU).

“We will continue to improve the Philippine Army and we will continue to support all Army major units especially in training. The best way to look after the welfare of your men is to train them properly so that they can accomplish the mission well and come back to their families alive,” Alberto added.

2ID is the second Army major unit camp visited by Alberto since he assumed as Army chief.

The commanding general also led the tree planting activity near the Division’s Sierra Madre Golf and Country Club.
