Army sarge, couple nabbed for drugs in Cotabato entrapment operation

THREE known high value drug targets in Cotabato, one of them an Army detachment commander,  were arrested by security forces during separate buy-bust operations last Thursday and Friday, Police Regional Office 12 director Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus reported yesterday.

In a report to Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge Lieutenant General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the Central Mindanao police director said that Sergeant Oscar Dapriza, an Army detachment commander in Barangay Lampagang in Tulunan, North Cotabato yielded a gram of shabu worth P6,800 and the buy-bust money during an entrapment operation in Bgy. New Bunawan 2:55 p.m. Thursday.

Corpus said  members of the PRO12 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the Tulunan Municipal Police Station, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion were involved in the sting which led to the arrest of the soldier along with his cohort Myrene Ferino, 45, a resident of Glan, Sarangani.

Sgt. Dapriza was stripped of his 9mm Glock 17 pistol with two magazines each containing eight live ammunition. The suspect’s motorcycle was impounded by the police.

“This is a warning to all of those members of any law enforcement or government agency. You are not excuse dfrom the campaign against illegal drugs. I just want to remind those who are in service including our police personnel in this region, we are at the forefront of this campaign against illegal drugs, involvement in this kind of illegal activities is not tolerated and will never be,” Corpus said in the aftermath of the arrest of the Army soldier.
