THE Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry Division (ID) welcomed its a new commander -- Brig. Gen. Roberto Ancan.
Philippine Army Public Affairs Office (PAO) head Chief Lt. Colonel Louie Villanueva said a simple turnover ceremony was presided by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto to replace Major Gen. Roseller Murillo, who is retiring in military service, by Brig. Gen. Ancan.
Ancan is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Hinirang” Class of 1987 and holder of a Master’s Degree in Management from the Philippine Christian University. Ancan served as Brigade Commander of the 102nd “Bagwis” Brigade based in Sarangani and Chief of Staff of the 3rd Infantry Division in Capiz.
In his speech during the event, Alberto stressed the role of 1st ID is to sustain peace and development in Mindanao.
“Keep the words and wisdom of Maj. Gen. Murillo as part of your guidebook and abide by the directions and orders of your new commander Brig. Gen. Ancan,” Alberto said during the turnover ceremony.
